2005 REPORTS DESIGNED BY ARKETYPE FOR WPS RESOURCES WIN IN INDUSTRY COMPETITION

GREEN BAY, WI, September 5, 2006 —Utility Communicators International (UCI), the communications and marketing organization for the utility industry, recently awarded first place to WPS Resources Corporation for its 2005 Community Involvement Report. The printed report was designed by Green Bay advertising and design firm, Arketype, Inc.

WPS Resources Corporation also received second-place honors for its 2005 Environmental Report and its 2005 Annual Report. Both printed reports were also created by Arketype.

Additionally, Arketype’s contributions helped WPS Resources Corporation take top honors in the overall competition, as UCI selected the utility company as the industry’s Communicator of the Year for the second year in a row.

UCI’s Better Communications Contest is the longest-running communications contest in the country. Each year, energy companies from throughout the country compete for recognition of their communications efforts during the previous year. UCI has more than 300 members in the U.S., Canada, Caribbean, Bermuda,United Kingdom, and Mexico.
