Arketype Captures Judges' Choice Award with Russ Freeman Project

GREEN BAY, WI, April 3, 2007 — More than 1,800 photographs were used to create a style of stop-action animation set to the jazz music of the late Russ Freeman in a video that received a Gold ADDY and a Judges’ Choice award in the recent American Advertising Federation Midwest regional competition.

Created by Arketype, Inc., a Green Bay, Wis., design and advertising firm, the four-minute promotional video features the musical talents of the Las Vegas Jazz Connection, a big band currently on the concert schedule.

The Las Vegas Jazz Connection came together in 2004, when Russ Freeman’s widow, Carolyn, assembled a mix of up-and-coming jazz musicians with veteran performers to produce a big band album of her late husband’s music. She enlisted the talents of trombonist/composer/ arranger Nathan Tanouye to arrange several of Russ Freeman’s compositions, and vocalist Tyia Wilson as lyricist and performer. The result was a CD released in 2006 entitled, “Crossings: The Russ Freeman Project.”

A jazz pianist and composer, Russ Freeman is frequently remembered for his work with Chet Baker. He died in 2002.

Carolyn Freeman, with the help of longtime friend, Sharon Resch, formed Peacock Entertainment (www.peacockent.com). The Las Vegas company engaged Arketype and its award-winning multimedia work to promote the Las Vegas Jazz Connection and their new interpretations of Russ Freeman’s 50-year-old compositions.

The Russ Freeman Project video will go on to compete nationally. It was created by Jim Rivett, Arketype creative director, Shelly Young, producer, DeGaull Vang, editing and design, Jason Davis, editing and design, and Megan Pichette, account executive.

Arketype, Inc., delivers strategic marketing advantages to leaders of consumer and business-to-business brands, creating impossible-to-ignore design and advertising solutions.
